You and your religious obsessions. What in the heck this incident has to do with religion is a mystery I'm sure to everyone who read your comment.
And by "we" I mean Western people. Not Donald Trump or Americans. Its the civilizational "we". Not the national "we".
I think cultural appropriation, in this context of denigrating the dominant Western cultural heritage is an extremely serious offense, akin to the destruction of native/aboriginal artifacts...but unlike those crimes which are normally motivated by financial gain, this is an element of a larger plan of genocide, so I think if there is a punishment, it should be very harsh. Because its a more malicious and aggressive act.
I conjured up the harshest deterrent I could think of short of torture or execution. Hard physical labor with a remedial learning element.
