Republicans in Texas strongly endorse that kind of taxation and at higher levels than found in most states. It helps explain why there is no state income tax in Texas. Texas Republicans would not have it any other way.

Again, there is no location in Texas that has a 6% annual property tax rate like homes in Illinois do. Ranking is not as important as the actual property tax rate people have to pay on their homes.

No, the gangs just rob you. The 6% is to fund the huge amount of public employees, their overly generous benefits, and their exorbitant pensions.
I posted my last IL tax bill a few times. It's itemized. I was charged for payments to no fewer than 8 different public employee pension funds at the local, township, and county levels.
