As sociology 101 teaches, every law is based on social norms. In contemporary western culture (and literally all non-Islamic cultures in the world) alcohol is widely consumed, so it is simply unacceptable to ban alcohol. Not to mention the millions of workers relying on alcohol production and consumption.

On the other hand, marijuana has always been contained. 10 years ago, the only country that legalized marijuana was probably North Korea. If you want to open the Pandora box, fine, but do not justify it with lousy analogy.
What?

Marijuana prohibition is relatively recent and the reason for that prohibition was outright racism.

No not talking current enforcement at all, it was made illegal in the first place for outright racist reasons. Read up on the history.

I can tell you know nothing about the history of marijuana prohibition.

I thought it had more to do with who gets to supply raw materials for rope and other products. Everything someone doesn't like is "racist".

What? No. Anslinger was head of prohibition of alcohol. Prior to that he had no issue with marijuana. When alcohol prohibition fell apart he mounted a campaign to prohibit marijuana. Filled with race baiting hate including these gems:
“Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men.”

“There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the U.S., and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others.”

We LITERALLY have recordings of the conversations around it, and statements by those involved. It was all about voter disenfranchisement. People are correctly pointing out your lack of historical knowledge.

So what if one person said that way back then? That doesn't speak for everyone of all time. Still sounds like he's blaming marijuana for their behavior he doesn't like. So marijuanaist.

Those quotes literally were given on the floor of Congress and played a huge role in the creation of the Marihuana Tax Stamp Act of 1937, which has resulted in the deaths of countless people and the destruction of even more countless careers in the last 81 years.

So banning marijuana for everyone is racist and keeps certain people from voting ?
