Why should anyone listen to this failed mayor , the guy that has doubled the homeless population in L.A?

I guess since he considers himself Latino or half Latino and he’s hoping to win in 2020 , this is a desperate attempt to get backing from the Dem party for his run?

Enough with the identity politics
—-
Washington (CNN) — Los Angeles Democratic Mayor Eric Garcetti said the Democratic Party needs to take active steps to engage with Latino voters, including putting more Latino candidates on the ballot.
"I think it's really important to do two or three things," Garcetti said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."
He continued, "One is to speak to Latinos in the communities where they are, run more Latinos and invest in long-term, you know, political infrastructure in Latino communities."

Latinos have pride to see a Spanish surname or to have somebody who they know comes from the same background, and they're willing to cross over sometimes," Garcetti said.

Garcetti added, however, that it was "very clear" President Donald Trump is hostile to Latinos.

So, Latinos will vote for someone just because they have a Hispanic surname? If whites voted for someone just because they had Smith as their last name they'd be called racist for that.

What a crock that Trump has been hostile to Latinos! Garcetti is just repeating the old leftist lies.

Yeah it’s a double standard of course . Only certain people can have pride apparently .

And yes it’s the same old stuff but he is betting it’ll help him win the Presidency. But Hillary tried the same thing and she had much better name recognition billions and still lost .

Latinos aren't just coming here to do menial jobs or just to assimilate into the American dream. They got affirmative action, Democrat enablers and ethnocentrism and they want to completely take over.

Everyone else can do what they want but I never approved of all this immigration let alone illegal immigration so I'll just be voting for republican and old white guys whose American legitimacy and patriotism isn't questionable.

Where was Garcetti when Loretta Sanchez was running against Kamala Harris?

Also, Garcetti is Latino like I am Latino. Garcetti's grandfather was born in Mexico to an Italian-born father who was killed during the Revolution. Garcetti's grandfather came to the United States as a child shortly thereafter. That's hardly a strong Latino background.

Yes he uses this to pander . He says he is Latino , Jewish and Italian. Nothing wrong with that but like you mention many Americans have a similar background , especially in places like L.A ..to bring it up all the time it’s just blatant and desperate pandering . I’d rather people talk and actually fix the issues they were elected to fix than talk about where their background .

When he ran for mayor in 2013 he claimed he’d be a back to basics mayor but that has turned out to be true. He’s just focused on being a social justice warrior and is still butt hurt over the 2016 election . When Trump won he made a public announcement that it was traumatic and he felt like protesting . There is a reason he’s nicknamed Mayor Snowflake .

Yes , but those on the left like Garcetti have turned illegal immigration into a moral issue . If you don’t accept open borders and anyone coming into the country unchecked you are a racist and a bigot . This is actually their ideology. Unconditional open borders . We should have immigration but why not let it be based on merit . Just seems to be common sense .

There are big economic and societal consequences that come with illegal immigration but of course liberal politicians and media rarely speaks of them . California spends many billions on illegal aliens . Mexico and other countries need to get their own act together and take care of their citizens .
Liberals should be protesting and advocating for that everyday but they don’t .

That's just all the reasons I don't want any more non-traditional immigration or illegal immigration. Despite our best efforts, diversity and multicultural has already shown itself to be an unwise and failed policy. We're just not suppose to admit it. We can't make diverse people as compatible and interchangeable.
