Republicans are resistant starchers.

They still starch their collars.

Probably with corn starch, though.

The train has left the station on that one. Being resistant to it won't do much good.

Republicans might be able to delay legalization another decade or so at the most but it's still coming and eventually they are going to have to accept that.

Good to see a majority of Republicans are now in favor of legalization. It won't be long now.

The republicans are nothing more than political puppets owned and operated by the corporations. One of the biggest businesses being the pharmaceutical industry. If big pharma could find a way to patent cannabis we would see it for sale on every shelf of every retailer throughout the world.

Isn't it ironic that marijuana has been available for centuries with few issues, but the opioid epidemic was created by the the legal pharmaceutical industry and has killed multitudes? Yet the republicans still blame cannabis and praise prescription drugs that kill over 300,000 Americans annually. These republicans are bought and paid for and only a fool doesn't see it.

But, they can just say it's to protect the moral fabric of our God-fearing society, because after all, "the only legal high is Jesus high!" and people line up to vote for it.

If 'big pharma' is powerful and influential, how in the world did they allow Govt to come in and throw a wrench into opioid prescription drugs? Keep in mind this was at a time when opioids were flying off the shelves, doctors were writing 100s of 1000s of scripts for them....in other words, LOTS of money being made from opioids...and yet in 2012 (under Obama), they cracked down hard on this, to the point today, that almost no doctors will give them out anymore?!!

Seems like 'big pharma' lost big time.

This was from a campaign interview in 2016:

Trump says he’ll leave it up to the states to decide if they want to allow the sale of recreational and medicinal marijuana.

“I think it’s up to the states, yeah. I’m a states’ person,” Trump said. “I think it should be up to the states, absolutely.”

Big Pharma is a factor but it isn't the only factor. Law enforcement, private prisons, and fundamentalist Christianity are other factors. All of that together pulls enough weight to keep prohibition in place in most of the country. It seems like where the religious right is losing its hold is where legalization is starting to happen. I doubt any state in the Bible Belt will go recreational any time soon. Medical is only barely starting to make headway in the former Confederacy.
