Ok did any legalized recreational proponents ever figure out how to deal with the issue of people driving while high?

Quote:

Though a 2017 study found that the legalization of recreational weed has not increased the number of accidents involving fatalities, states that have legalized recreational use are seeing more car crashes overall, according to the report, which includes two studies presented Thursday at the Combating Alcohol- and Drug-Impaired Driving summit at the insurance institute's Vehicle Research Center.

I've been wondering that myself. Not specifically about driving, but that, too.

Who's tracking any societal shifts pertaining to marijuana, and how would we go about regulating it at some vague future point?

On top of that - damn, I hate smoke, any smoke, wafting at me as I walk down the street.

I think people making bad choices causes car accidents.

But hey, that's just me.

Last study I saw said that cell phones were the major cause of car wrecks, even worse than impaired drivers.

Yes, it's up. However, potheads don't care to listen. Hopefully Uber will start giving them discounts or something.

Any guesses why 'legalization would mean an increase in accidents, but not fatalities? 6% seem a significant enough increase in collisions, that it would likely lead to higher fatalities.

Will be interested in what further research shows.

Believe it or not but people were driving high long before pot was legal. Hopefully there will be a reliable roadside test soon because the current test for DUI doesn't work with people high on pot.

We still have a ton of idiots getting behind the wheel after a few drinks.

Accidents are also up thanks to the use of cell phones.

Weak correlation, let’s see some causation.
