Honestly, mature adults - of which there are few on here - would realize that whether it's a Trump or Hillary supporter doesnt really matter; the point is that it's one mentally ill individual who does not represent any broad political group of Americans.
What I mainly fight against on here are the craven "false flag" arguments hastily pitched out with zero supporting evidence.
While I agree with the section in bold above the pro-Trump stance of this individual in custody will be the driving force of any and all headlines for the next 11 days.

The fact that he is a Trump supporter does matter. It's a sign that Trump's overheated and reckless rhetoric are inspiring unstable individuals to commit dangerous acts. If Trump doesn't tone it down he's complicit.
That person was a veteran who used his actual name on the return address. Once that information came out I heard nothing else. Perhaps everyone assumes he's mentally ill and it's related to his service.
Right, you heard nothing else. It seems some stories get more traction than others, doesn't it? A threatening package sent to the White House and one to Gen. Mattis is just a blip on the media's radar, with no calls for people to "tone down" their rhetoric. If anything is definitive of media bias, it's this.
Do we all agree that this man should receive the death penalty? He tried to kill two former presidents.
