Metoo hysteria knows no bounds and it's hateful leaders don't care how many innocent men will have their lives ruined. Fortunately, this one should be able to rebound.
-----------
Two months after Bellevue Police Chief Steve Mylett was accused of sexual assault and placed on administrative leave, a Bothell police investigation has cleared him of any wrongdoing and found no substantial evidence that he even knew his accuser, according to a news release.

“Investigators concluded there was no probable cause to show that Mr. Mylett committed any crime,” according to a news release posted Monday on the city of Bothell’s website. “In addition, there was no substantiated evidence to prove there was ever any contact between the complainant and Mr. Mylett.”

This is an interesting tidbit from that link.

"As evidence of the alleged assault, the woman gave police the underwear she wore that day, the report said.
A DNA test later showed that the woman’s DNA was on the underpants, as was the DNA of three other individuals, but not that of Mylett, according to the police report."

Yay for the SlutWalk girls.

But in Mylett's case, investigators found no sign he had ever met the accuser. He said the ordeal taught him compassion.
"I have a deeper appreciation of what it means to be falsely accused," said the chief. "I also have a deeper appreciation of what it's like to be on administrative leave. I think it will make me a better chief and a better human being."
That's a very tough lesson but a good one. In my experience too many police lack a deep appreciation of what it means to be falsely accused.

The woman had previously accused two other Bellevue officers who were cleared. One of them spent several months in jail. From what I've heard from friends (I live near Bellevue) Chief Mylett is a real good guy.

Will the 'believe the survivors' crowd learn a lesson (Sen. Patty Murray)? I doubt it.

one day the metoo movement is going to go too far and really harm not only the intended victim, but the movement as well, and it wont end well.

imo everyone who files false charges like this needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and if convicted hav the book thrown at them. then and only then will this stupid metoo movement dissipate.

Yes, in news reports regarding her previous accusations, police said they would not charge her due to concerns about mental illness. This time it appears they are changing tack and will prosecute her for false reporting.
