Maybe kids in your area are challenged, cuz I was in contact with thousands of teens over a period of years and never encountered that. Lots of them wore analog watches.

That I rebuilt the carburetor and replaced the distributor in.

Not all of us are worthless limp wristed blat asses.
I have several very good electric typewriters and 8-track recorders/players. But the hell of it is, you can't buy ribbons and tapes for them anymore.

Believe it or not, I felt anxious over the ballot this year, too, and I'm far from a Millennial. I live in Colorado where, thanks to TABOR, it seems that everything must come before the electorate, meaning that the ballots are long and intimidating. I would never not vote, but I honestly dreaded the length and complexity of the ballot this year, and it did not disappoint.

I have my dads old manual typewriter. You can re-ink the ribbon it has.
A little messy, but works good.
When my dad lost the ability to write and be able to understand what he wrote. he used this typewriter to write for him. Grocery lists, notes when someone would call. Anything he needed to write.

What?

Amazon sells ribbons for 1000s of typewriters.

I will admit - I was distinctly NOT interested in politics while I was in college.

My son, age 23 (I think he's a millenial) voted for the first time this year. Much younger than I was when I first voted.

I used to substitute teach at the local high school. When I made them fill out their own hall pass the majority could not write in the time. Since they could do everything else I assumed it was because they could not read the clock.

It might be good policy to make the act of voting a little bit of work.

I really don't know how these people are going to make it in anything. If someone isn't holding their hand, they have no clue and no desire to get a clue.
It reminds me of the thread I posted in yesterday in the retirement section. Pretty sad about some young people being unable to figure things out on their own. I was at the post office one day and a young kid of about 18 was having trouble figuring out how to deal with the envelope he was told to put the address on to mail off his tax return. I had to walk him through it. I remember being a little shocked when he told me he’d never dealt with mail in his life. It’s not difficult, but he was totally flummoxed by the instructions. I blame our generation for kids today not being able to figure out things on their own. We don’t let our kids go out without being tethered to us by their phones.

This thread was funny about how we were raised compared to today. I think it has something to do with it.
