I’ll never use the words “fake news” but I do that they all spin it and use irt to misdirect people.
The Acosta video comes to mind being that it’s the latest.

There has been a lot of actual, literal fake news floating around, and a lot of it has been believed by people who want to believe it. This article includes an interview with one writer who admits to making fake news:
Basically, there is a very serious, conscious effort by various totalitarian nations and terrorist organizations to derail democratic countries by turning the power of free speech into a weapon. (Not to mention the home-grown kooks like the one referenced in the previous link.) We've always had deep political divisions, but these latest social-media manipulations constitute a whole new magnitude of threat to civil democratic societies. The link about weaponization includes a discussion of the use of artificial intelligence to ramp up the levels of linguistic/conceptual warfare aimed, ultimately, at destroying any nation that allows freedom of speech.
As for the Acosta video, even the doctored version portrays a minimal amount of aggression. Conservatives complain about liberal PC patrols going overboard and blowing everything out of proportion (and I agree: some PC stuff does get out of hand)...well, this Acosta episode is just Trump trying to play the same game to his own advantage.
