Do they really? As far as I know, work rules in France and Germany aren't particularly different (especially since both are EU members), but the unemployment rate of France is almost 3 times that of Germany.

Does anyone remember government mandated blue laws, where stores could not operate on Sundays?

The point is, it was mandated by the government, so it could very well happen again.

DO NOT PANIC.

Retail jobs will disappear when the kiosks and robots come. Then you'll be wondering how you'll feed your family on Thanksgiving.
