Well I have no idea what Trump thinks, but he and the rest of the guv should stay completely out of the automotive industry. Agree?
I'll don't know what trump is thinking either. I don't think trump knows what he is thinking. But I'll bet you that trump is doing his damnedest to have his lap-dog media minimize, or ignore, the impact tariffs have had on the faltering car industry. Who knew that tariffs on imported steel who affect the car industry?
How did you spend yours? This is how they spent theirs.
more irrelevancy.
I see for all your hand wringing over us free market types, you cant substantiate your claim that the plant closures are the result of tax cuts
BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and VW already have plants in the USA.
Sure. They came here when things were stable, and predictable. They are being severely punished by the tariffs, and time will tell whether or not they will want to stay here.

One thing for sure, the tax cuts were not enough to compensate for the increased prices due to the tariff tax.
Looks like Apple may be next. Sales are slower but they are still making huge profits. The tariffs could affect them as well. The bankruptcy king has no problems risking companies on the brink of it either.
Apple shares fell in Tuesday's premarket, a day after President Donald Trump suggested the U.S. could place a 10 percent tariff on iPhones and laptops made in China.
Trump told The Wall Street Journal that "people could stand" that tariff rate "very easily."
Apple shares, which are already down 20 percent this month, fell by 1.8 percent in premarket trading Tuesday.
Trump also said it is "highly unlikely" he would delay an increase in overall tariffs at the beginning of next year to 25 percent from 10 percent. Trump is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in three days at the G-20 summit.
Apple's products are exempt from the tariffs, but that could change when Trump adds another $267 billion worth of tariffs on Chinese goods.

So you agree the guv should stay out of the automotive industry? Or just Trump?
The difference of course is that Toyota isn't in financial difficulties and their global market is alive and well.
GM is a poorly managed, UAW bled dry corporation. It really is a shame, GM makes a solid full size truck.
