Many in LE are obsessed with the failed war on drugs and innocent people suffer. This is just one example of what can happen when LE is blinded by their obsession with the war on drugs.

it wasnt the lab that made the mistake, they actually found it. it was the poor quality of the field testing equipment that made the mistake. i would also question the cops and find out if they coerced the woman into letting them search her car, which they have a nasty tendency to do.

and the woman is suing the cops and the manufacturer of the test equipment, i hope she burns them to the ground.

OP's post assumes the 'war on drugs' is a failure. What are the metrics that make it a failure? And why are we pinning an alleged failure of a national-level policy on local cops?

Mistakes happen, and reparations for mistakes are appropriate.

Physicians operate on wrong limbs and organs. Defense lawyers make egregious errors defending their clients, who then spend years in penitentiaries. But I don't recall any poster saying the hospitals and defense bar should be burned down. BTW, Cops offend at the rate of 1:100, the same rate we found nationwide in physicians.

Suing a PD into bankruptcy is the same thing as suing yourself. The taxpayer pays the judgement, not the department itself.

So in this case, where was this lady's defense lawyer? Where were the lab tests? If she spent 'months' in jail, it wasn't just the cops who screwed it up. Judges, prosecutors, her defense counsel - and the detention center medical staff should have all been implicated.

If you really hate LE as much as it sounds, please call a meth dealer the next time you are getting raped, robbed or stabbed, and leave LE out of the equation.

Somebody is going to be set up for life. As well she should be. Nobody should have to spend time in jail with the scum of the earth for something she (he) didn't do, or for having something she didn't have.

We need change some laws so that police have skin in the game when they screw up big time like this.
Rather than have the tax payers pay for the law suit, it should come out of the police pension and pay.

It would put a big stop to a lot of this BS.

Search and Seizure and it turns out the victims were innocent - You pay for their lawyers costs out of your own pocket it took to get their money back!

Yeah, call a cop to take the report, 10-15-20 minutes later. If they show up at all.

The "drug war". Yet another tax-funded government bureaucracy that we're stuck with.
