Authorities allege a North Carolina father shot his son on Thanksgiving Day after his two sons got into a heated argument about the protests against racial injustice some NFL players have staged during the national anthem, according to multiple reports.

The American way -- if you don't agree with someone, shut them up by force.

Obviously that father (if not his sons, too) did not believe in the ideal of family harmony on Thanksgiving.

(And you thought your family holidays were stressful, lol!!)

P.S. I just saw that this was posted in the Yahoo ENTERTAINMENT section. Is that sad or what that such things are considered entertaining?!

Well Desert Detroiter has posted since then so it can't be him.

More seriously, that is deranged. No debate is worth shooting someone, especially this issue.

He wasn't shot over anthem kneeling. The son was shot because he was drunk, throwing furniture, and refused to leave the house. One of the things he was throwing hit the dad. They could have been arguing about puppies vs kittens and had the same outcome.

It just makes for an attention grabbing headline to say it was over the anthem.

Throwing Kittens? Oh no!

Maybe they were throwing guns at each other and one happened to go off?

This incident just goes to show you can't fix stupid and if you are already ignorant adding alcohol to the mix only subtracts IQ points.

LMAO. This should be the first episode of a TV show called When Thansgiving Goes Wrong. Every year we have a "drunk shenanigans at Thanksgiving" story in the news. Alcohol and bad family dynamics never mix.

I just do not have a high level of trust for anybody who gets so deeply involved in a childish game.

I see grown men driving around in trucks, covered with flags and symbology of their favorite
football-team, LOL. And the people with the Raiders junk all over their vehicle, I steer clear because most of those people come-across as truly sketchy.

Did you actually read the entire article?

During the fight between brothers, the victim allegedly charged at his father, who then asked him to leave. Instead, the victim went outside to continue the argument in the backyard, where he allegedly began to throw patio furniture and other items towards the home, the warrant states.

Valencia-Lamadrid told police he realized he wasn’t strong enough to break up the fight between his sons, so he went to get his shotgun.

When a water bottle struck Valencia-Lamadrid in the face, he told police he accidentally squeezed the trigger and accidentally shot his son in the hand and leg.

His son had become physically violent and was intoxicated. He was throwing furniture at the house and apparently a water bottle at his father.

It was an accidental shooting, but the OP made it sound like some lunatic that shot one of his sons over politics. So dishonest.
