Tennis great Martina Navratilova has sparked outrage among the transgender community after saying that people who were born male shouldn't be allowed to compete in women's sport.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion from the Czech Republic was commenting on Twitter about transgender women in sport and she was accused of being "transphobic".

Navratilova, who was responding to a question from one of her followers, said: "Clearly that can't be right. You can't just proclaim yourself a female and be able to compete against women. There must be some standards, and having a penis and competing as a woman would not fit that standard."

She was quickly attacked by a "trans activist," and later apologized. Bad move; apologizing to the social justice crowd only sets them off even more.

Never show weakness. They will eat you alive.
Has Mother Nature not taught any of you people that?

Let em play in pro tennis. The line would quickly be drawn with no apologies.

Indeed

1)It use to be with the budding Nazi/communist types, if you apologized for offending anyone, it was over.

2)Then it required specific allocution of said offense for it to be over.

3)Then it morphed into a specific apology, and promise to go to sensitivity training (i.e. re-education camp), for it to be over.

4)Then it became mandatory to attend such leftist training, and you might be forgiven.

5)Then even if you specifically apologized, went to training, and promised never to do it again, the leftist PC police still demanded your resignation.

Obviously now with so called Doxing, there is no way out of the PC madness, UNLESS you are part of the leftist gang, then everything is ok so long as you abide by #1.
Most recent example is Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC, but there are literately hundreds of examples over the years where liberals/Democrats can say horrific things from a PC perspective, and most if not all is covered and forgiven. Yet let a moderate and/or conservative utter 1/100th of a similar comment (for real or even in jest), and the propaganda ministers of PC are quick to demonize the offenders.
Thus you as a moderate must lose your job, career, and any semblance of a normal life.

Hitler and Stalin would be very proud of the modern day PC liberal/leftist movement.

I think you're right. People might not care much about a big athletic dude dominating women's handball, but women's pro tennis is big business. It will be a different story when some male tennis player declares himself a woman and starts beating up on Serena.

Private tennis tournaments require having some serious balls.

You can see it as a mob mentality. I would see it rather that non-economically productive work (social justice work) is being done because productive economic work is scarce today. In the 50's, the 'mob' would have had to get a job and only a few with causes that resonated like desegregation and race based civil rights would have engaged in social justice work. Jobs were available. Now, publicly and privately funded institutions provide employment for social justice work and economically productive work is rare.

I think this why Trump is so hated by certain segments of the country. Returning to an economic model of actually making stuff is not as 'intellectual' to some.

It's just as ridiculous as allowing a professional athlete to play against high school kids.
I too think it's pretty stupid however if it's a private organization holding the event they have the right to dictate the rules.

I can't for the life of me figure out why a woman would want to compete against a man and vice versa but it's their playground...they run the show. As long as all the competitors know the rules prior to the game that's all you can do.

My sister-in-law's father used to play in a softball league open to both (or all 4.6 million) genders. You had to be at least 65-years-old though. I can't imagine anyone liking it too much if a 24-year-man "identified" as a 70-year-old man, showed up, and proceeded to dominate the league like Willie Mays.
