Now we will have this myth that illegals are bringing in all these diseases. This international traveler was not an illegal.

Would you agree they are less likely to be vaccinated and have a higher occurrence/potential of carrying disease?
Not sure what the policy is in those countries.
Reality -- there is a growing concern here in the USA of educated, upper middle class parents choosing not to vaccinate.
and add to that the number of Americans or other foreigners who travel to the countries from which refugees are fleeing far exceeds the number of people entering the country as refugees. Therefore, the number of people exposed to foreign disease from Americans returning from refugee countries likely exceeds those exposed to disease from actual refugees.
There is not an epidemic of measles, pox, tuberculosis from illegal residents.
