I'm laughing at this. I live in Canada, which, to many Americans is "socialiist." Except it isn't at all.
I own my own home. I own title on my house. I am in business for myself, and taxes are not a huge gulp of my profits. As a hobbyist gardener, I grow my own tomatoes and peppers. No permission needed from local governments.
But how much you make annually? In socialist countries/states, you usually have to have a high paying job to afford all of those, and that's great for you that you can grow your own produce without permission, whereas here in the US, many of the democrat controlled cities and states are making it illegal to collect rain water and grow edible gardens on your land. Oregon is one of the worst states in regards to that.
If the Electoral College process was eliminated, do people really think the "popular" vote outcomes would be the same as 2016? Surely voting turnouts and patterns/outcomes would be significantly different.
(I do wish we could count on the apathetic not having their say here in Australia, like you can in the States. But with compulsory voting, we are stuck with everyone having their say. The conservatives would love to see that part of our system change, but there is no way the Labor party would allow it. Heck, they even want 16 year olds to vote! Sorry for OT).
The democrats are pushing for 16 year olds to vote, and they finally won their battle with allowing felons to vote. I just wish they were as lenient on who gets to own guns as they are on who gets to vote.
So they want to change the constitution. OK - better start lining up the 38 states you are going to need to get this item done. Once again the democrats are wasting everyone's time. You'll never get 38 states to agree to it as they would be signing away their own influence.
The time would be better spent working on a solution to the government shutdown, an infrastructure bill, or 100 other things.
It was designed when the various regions were in development and sparsely populated. That is no longer the case and it should have been abolished long ago... WE DON'T NEED SOMEONE SECOND GUESSING OUR VOTES...... The electors can be manipulated, and they should have no position of existence in the United States that permits and allows them to violate and negate the votes of the people.
We also should stick to the base principle "NO PERSON IS ABOVE THE LAW".... and certainly no person gets to pardon themselves, because doing so means they are above the law. Nor should they be allowed to have any voice or say in any family members when legal and judicial decisions are made.
We are not running some "system with an alias as if its a dictatorship".
And... "YES"; President's CAN be Indicted..... no one is exempt from the Law.
It is the only bearing in a republic of states. That you don't think it's fair is irrelevant.
Well said. Given that we are a collection of states rather than one large body it is actually very relevant. It just shows how little respect these people have for this country.

This is not nonsense. You have expressed concerns about legal citizens in one state having more clout than yours, should you not have even more concern when non-citizens are reducing the clout of your state?
