How has being property of the collective benefited you?

Say what? I'm no one's property you say.....
Since 1913, the people of the USA, have been property of the government.
How's that, you say?

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

The boot was taken from their throat, and placed firmly upon the people, rich & poor. Now, they have a vested interest in the people from cradle to grave. The slaves must be controlled.

"What I do say is that no man is good enough to govern another man without that other's consent."

You should move somewhere else where there are no taxes. Oman might be a good choice. Or the Bahamas.

More proof that those on the fringes cannot be trusted with words.
Righties make up their own definitions of socialist, slave, communist, marxist...
Not that lefties can be trusted with words like: Justice, fascist, anything to do with gender...

Words mean nothing any more.

The American citizen has no endowed right to life, nor liberty, nor absolute ownership because, as a taxed subject, he can be ordered to train, fight, and die, on command (militia duty), and is obligated to give up a portion of his property (taxes, etc). They are Property of the State that is authorized to kill for non-compliance.

"CITIZEN - ... Citizens are members of a political community who, in their associative capacity, have established or submitted themselves to the dominion of government for the promotion of the general welfare and the protection of their individual as well as collective rights. "
- - - Black's Law Dictionary, Sixth Ed. p.244

"... the term 'citizen,' in the United States, is analogous to the term "subject" in the common law; the change of phrase has resulted from the change in government. ... he who before was a "subject of the King" is now a citizen of the State."
- - - State v. Manuel, 20 N.C. 144 (1838)

SUBJECT - One that owes allegiance to a sovereign and is governed by his laws.
...Men in free governments are subjects as well as citizens; as citizens they enjoy rights and franchises; as subjects they are bound to obey the laws. The term is little used, in this sense, in countries enjoying a republican form of government.
- - - Black's Law Dictionary, Sixth Edition, p. 1425

I know, we are stuck with it, said the 18th Amendment.
Probably like the 1st, 2nd & 4th Amendments, eh? We can always alter it with legislation.

Well just this very morning I travelled I95 very swiftly and conveniently with no toll and visited my newborn grandson and kissed and smelled his sweetly scented tiny head and looked into his wondering eyes.
Benefit: overflowing heart and soul: Joy to the world!( Federal Highway)

In 2001 I resided in NE Pa, had one daughter living and working in Manhattan, and another working in the US Steel building in Pgh Pa and 2 living and working in D.C. Despite the anxiety we all felt in the world, let alone the US, that infamous September day, and the following days, it was somewhat comforting to know that our military was defending and protecting myself and my very own children. Literally, with jets flying the skies of Manhattan, D.C. and Pennsylvania and all else the other branches were doing. Having the mobilization of our services to defend and protect us in those uncertain times ( even if we only live a gnats amount of time) illustrated the usefulness of our income taxes, to me.
Benefit: Peace of mind that all that could be done was being done, because it was available...you know there, when we needed it: priceless.( Defense)

In 2014 here in the US we had the first cases of Ebola. I will not elaborate on how many were contracted here and or were transported here for treatment etc. Point to be made: We have darn great benefits from our CDC as no crisis or epidemic occurred, largely due to this Federal Agency, its many programs, (including education) guidelines and research etc. Let alone that when I ate romaine lettuce yesterday I felt confident that following CDC guidelines and suggestions I would sleep last night and not be ill and awake all night.
Benefit: OBVIOUS. ( Health and Welfare)

The government spends roughly 17 percent of income tax revenue on various programs that provide money for those in need, including retirement benefits for federal employees, food and nutritional assistance, and Supplemental Security Income.
Benefit: A sense of pride from belonging to a society that has some compassion( disclaimer...this poster thinks we have a long way to go or go back to a better point, but for today this serves.)

So BentBow these are just off the top of my head this morning, but thanks for being a catalyst to nudge me to think of my country and my good fortune to reap these benefits of the collective, to use your phrase.

If it is against the constitution, then the third branch of government takes over.
