Uh, no. If back pay was guaranteed, sure. But not for free.

I did it as a contractor for 10 weeks. Everyone quit but me. I showed up everyday and worked overtime too. Eventually got paid for it all.

Well, depends what kind of job you have.

In the corporate world it would depend on the circumstances but typically no because it means the company can't make payroll and is going under.

For a govt. job you'd need to weigh how much it may help\hurt your career future (even though they might say it won't) by still showing up. If you leave your boss\co-workers in a lurch and they tough it out there could be long-term impacts from it even if you never directly get any blowback.

Lastly, a lot of people need their paycheck so the reasonable prospect of getting paid eventually is typically enough to get you to show up. Many of these folks have mortgages, kids tuitions etc. to pay for and can't just sit it out like some 18 year old sitting at home with no bills to pay or perhaps someone near retirement anyway....or the very rare folks that don't really need a job.

Anybody who is working will get paid on time as usual. Nobody is expected to work for free. What a stupid post.
