I disagree. All one needs to do is prioritize one's spending. That means live BELOW one's means, so that certain desired services can be obtained, as necessary.

For example, you don't have to live in the ridiculously over-priced apartment you have in AZ.

$1,350/month is not ridiculously overpriced anymore in this market. My apartment that was $700/month 5 years ago is now $1,000/month same unit same complex. You should keep up with facts before you make generalizations

Yes, it is. Move to a different market. You drive a truck for a living for pete's sake. Live below your means, and you, too, can acquire wealth

But why do you think, as you stated, that it is "so many" that they will "panic" and "give in" ?

If you have to give it to me, or provide it for me, I have no right to it. If I had a right, give and provide would change to force and take.

Then you don't believe you have rights to guns, because somebody provides it to you.

But then, we already went over that, and you ignored it.

It's no secret that 74.8 million (23% of the US population) are enrolled in Medicaid, which is totally free for the recipients, but paid for by the 55% of US 1040 filers (77.5 million) who actually pay any federal income tax at all. For every US 1040 filer who actually pays any federal income tax, they have to pay an extra burden for an additional person who receives their health care for free, even though the taxpayer doesn't. The taxpayer pays premiums and deductibles. The Medicaid enrollee pays nothing, and contributes nothing to the expense.
Yes I know what Medicaid is. I also know that is the only way some people have access to health care. I have volunteered as an advocate to help people get through the process and to fight for their "rights", under the law, to access the program. I don't mind paying extra taxes for them to be covered because they would suffer and possibly die without the program. Much more of my taxes go to things that are not as necessary or imperative to the population.

I would prefer single payer so I would not have to worry about losing my coverage and being stuck. I bought COBRA insurance at one time after a job loss, and could not afford to do it again.

Doing BB's substitution ...

The stupidity of this substitution is that it can apply to just about anything. By this token we have rights to just about anything.

Let's see what fun we can have with this ...

"If you have to force it from me, or take it from me, I have a right to it"

Let's say I stole a car. The cops chase me down. I really want that car and don't want to hand it over to the cops. In order for them to get that car from me, they have to "force it from me, or take it from me." So according to BB's little scheme here I have a right to it! A stolen car!
