That way they’d be able to call the cops on anyone – just for walking by. They’ve recently patented technology that combines doorbell cameras and facial recognition^1 to turn every neighborhood into a 1984 surveillance nightmare.
...
Users could “white-list” certain visitors, and automatically call the local police on others.
... And again, it has to be said: facial recognition still fails to identify women and people of color correctly.
..

Now Amazon is signalling that they can skip the middleman and bring racial profiling literally to your front door
So what are the police going to do when they turn up, arrest people for walking by on public property, indeed even if you were on someones property and ringing the doorbell that's not a crime. Indeed in many countries trespass is a civil offence.

So unless you have a court order stopping someone from being on or near you or your property or they commit criminal damage or some other form of crime then there is very little the police can do.

I would alsop suggerst that the police would become very quickly become sick and tired of having their time wasted by door bells calling them to peoples houses.

I guess we are not in Big Brother and Prep world any longer. The Security State wins!
People have approved implicitly since they began posting information and images identifying themselves online for "free".

You know who the moron is, he's the guy that thought not paying for a service meant it was free.

Don't need Big Brother, when there are dozens of Little Brothers (And Sisters for inclusiveness) being given that information just for accessing their services.

You don't need street cameras when you have 350M phone cameras with GPS locators on people (or near vicinity) at all times.

I'm now off to calculate pi to appease the AI overlords

Yes, its all very clever what they have accomplished!

Ive said before, if England had used these same tactics, there never would have been an American Revolution, they would have just brainwashed everyone that life under a monarchy was in their best interest.

I hate that is this succeeding, but I do give them credit, its extremely clever.
