Almost. It is prohibited but evidently there has been a loophole found?

"While Utah outlaws risking anything of value for an uncertain return — “any game of chance” — he said these games slip through a loophole in the law. Besides offering a chance at a jackpot, for every dollar deposited they also issue a $1 gift card that may be used for merchandise at one website.

So, in theory, players are not risking money but getting at least dollar-for-dollar value. But Weiler said constituents complain it is difficult, if not impossible, to redeem the gift cards."

I just get a few scratchers and maybe a few lotto tickets when visiting other states.

Atlantic City, NJ is full of casinos. Has been since I was a kid. It used to be a bustling industry there, as the only alternative to Las Vegas, at the time. It took a huge hit when the Indian casinos started popping up, but it is still a fun place to visit for a weekend.

Well, yeah. Inside the casinos or on the beach you are safe.

The only time I will venture elsewhere, is when I can get a reservation at Chef Vola’s.

...Which isn’t that often, but well worth the risk.

"Why do we have only 1 state with legalized gambling?"

I challenge your claim.

MOST states have a sate lottery of some kind which IS gambling.

Colorado has legalized gambling outside of the reservations. We actually voted on raising the stakes on the games a few years back.

It is not robbery if the victim is knowingly giving their money to the casino. You sound like a control freak.

Nobody is going to compete with Las Vegas as a destination, see Atlantic city for reference. You only have X amount of gamblers and if they are going to travel somewhere far LV is the place most are going to travel to. In fact part of the demise of Atlantic City can be attributed to the legalization of gambling here in PA. Buses used to leave the area I live in every morning for 2+ hour ride to AC, those people just go to local casino now. There is about 12 Casino's across the state, they do quite well. One is run by Mohegan tribe but the others are not. Legalization occurred in 2004 and PA is now the second largest gambling state but still far behind NV and there is no expectation we will ever compete with NV.
