Sadly, the shooter killed the father of the man who killed him. This happened in my hometown at the IHOP I used to take my daughter to.

Huntsville IHOP shooter kills employee, is killed by victim

mmmmm. This is not exactly a happy ending but at least the shooter was stopped before he hurt any other innocent people. The guy who returned fire obviously kept his head and made it count. I offer him condolences rather than congratulations and wish he and his family well.

To kill a person is never something anyone, with a conscience, wants. To do so in self-defense only makes it a little easier to live with.

That he lost his father is bitter, but as you said "at least the shooter was stopped before he hurt any other innocent people". That is certainly a very good thing.

It's also a good thing that weapons were not banned as the shooter would not have been stopped.

I've had to fire in anger once. It was a nightmare. My circumstances were much different than the one here as it was only my own life at stake but I do have an understanding of what this guy is feeling. But as originalist said it is fortunate that this man was allowed to be armed otherwise this would have ended much worse and with more peoples lives hurt.

The younger Mr Brown lost his father and will most likely be fired. Most of those places prohibit employees from having the means to defend themselves. They would rather that you die.

At some point, you would think the policy of not being able to defend yourself while at work would trigger a high profile, expensive law suit, which would then cause other companies to review said policy.

You may be right, but I would be surprised if he was fired. Huntsville is in the deep south and gun ownership is very prevalent. It's legal to open carry in the State of Alabama as well.

Here's the full title for the thread:

Bad guy with a gun shoots two people. One of the people shot kills bad guy with a gun then dies himself.

Great. Three people shot. Is this supposed to be a thread in favor of no gun control or what?

Just a sad story that might have ended worse if the employee had not been armed.
