https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/19/polit...all/index.html

After the vote, during the late afternoon, President Trump tweeted this:

"With so much talk about the Wall, people are losing sight of the great job being done on our Southern Border by Border Patrol, ICE and our great Military. Remember the Caravans? Well, they didn’t get through and none are forming or on their way. Border is tight. Fake News silent!"

So, what happened? Limbaugh and Coulter threw a fit about the lack of funding for a wall.

Hence, realizing that his 'base' did not want to hear about a 'tight border', Mr. Trump instantly changed his mind, said he would not sign the bill, and demanded money for the wall. He even told Shumer that he would take all responsibility for the shutdown.

Now, instead of a 'tight border', Mr. Trump is claiming a crises at the same border.

So, Mr. Trump is not to be trusted. Recall the 100-0 vote. If the Democrats 'cave', and give him money specifically for a wall, what will Mr. Trump demand when the continuing resolution expires?"

If congress does their job there would be no CR.

Because conservatives took care of immigration when they were in charge of everything .

Default If Trump Gets a Ransom to End the Shutdown, He’ll Do It Again and Again

Precisely why Dems must hold firm.

If indeed. We are all pleased that Senator Mitch McConnell has finally decided to allow votes today on two competing continuing resolutions. None prior to this.

Frankly, I feel the House version (mirroring the version passed by the Senate on December 20th, 100-0), will pass today. Why? I think a deal has been struck behind the scenes.

After all, even if the House version is passed, the CR is only until February 7th. I suspect the Democrats and Republicans have secretly agreed to pass today's House bill, with the understanding that for the next CR (or final budget) of February 7th will include money for border security, including a few miles of border wall (sorry, slats).

Of course, making predictions is hazardous, but there it is.

They weren't. They didn't have 60 Senate seats, and therefore not enough votes in the Senate for cloture to even get a bill to the Senate floor for a vote. Here we have yet another who has NO CLUE whatsoever how the Legislative Branch works.

Why are so many so clueless? Serious question.

OP is 100% correct.

Donald Trump and republican lawmakers H-A-T-E federal workers, they think they're all "dems," so they do not feel sorry for the 800,000 workers not being paid.

As difficult as it is for dems to see people suffering, they have to stand strong and hold the line against Trump. Because if they cave and give Mushroom Donald what he wants to end the shutdown, it will simply set the precedent that all Trump needs to do is shutdown the gov't and dems will cave.

As hard as it was watching the news last night here in St Louis where they showed a federal employee, a single mom of two kids (her husband died, she isn't divorced or didn't have kids out of wedlock in case some Trumpling wanted to attack her for making "bad life choices"), she was pawning some of her jewelry in order to pay bills this month.

Trump obviously doesn't give a crap about this poor woman, and I know democrats DO care...but they've got to hold strong against Trump for the good of the country.

Aren't they capable of learning about how the Legislative Branch works and actually thinking for themselves? Seems not. Why not? Why just mindlessly parrot BS propaganda?
