See how that works both ways? What a dumb Leftist thread.
Exactly. The Democrats haven't given one good reason why they thinking funding the wall is such a bad deal for our country. Instead, they put their hatred of Trump over the American people. They are holding the country hostage out of spite for Trump.

Trump is only shutting down the government because you can't run a government without having a budget in place first.

Just like the MSM, over hype EVERYTHING.

It is the job of CONGRESS to pass bills the president can sign.

Where is the bill for the REQUIRED budget that pelosi and her dems passed so Trump CAN sign it?

"it takes at least 2 to negotiate.

Pelosi wanted to leave the county for a week and NOT sit down for a compromise.

Trump has laid down a number, where is pelosi's and shumer's counter numbers?

Looks like both pelosi and shumer don't care about gov't workers also.
The House has passed 7 bills to get the government open. McConnell has refused to allow a vote on any of them, even the one he (and every other Senator, Republican and Democrat) votes for a month ago. I’m not sure why you are laying this at Nancy Pelosi’s feet for failing to pass bills.

It is that simple.
Hordes of illegal migrants are not pouring into the U.S. and Trump's wall will not keep out any significant amount of the ones who are coming.

Push for mandatory E-Verify. That will solve the problem.

It's that simple.

They can't in the Senate, unless it gets 60 votes for cloture. That requires some Dem votes, as the Rs don't have 60 Senate seats.

Forcing people to work without pay is slavery. Trump has another title to add to his list of questionable accomplishments.

Stop it with that garbage. These people are going to get paid. They are also free to seek employment elsewhere. They're not exactly chained to their desks.

The point being made in this thread has nothing to do with whether spending $5.7 billion to fund the general idea of a wall is good or bad policy. The point is that the legislature cannot cede to the executive's demands that it promulgate the executive's desired policy under threat of government closure because it will only set precedent for the executive to do so in the future.

Imagine Kamala Harris runs on a platform of reproductive rights and humanitarian treatment of immigrants and wins in 2020. When presented with a budgetary bill, President Harris now demands that the legislature inject $5.7 billion to fund abortions or $5.7 billion to give free legal aid to Honduran asylum seekers under threat of refusing to fund the Government. What say you then?

The Democrats have no choice but to refuse wall funding because it will only beget future demands from this future Presidents in a manner that functionally usurps the allocation of Constitutional powers from Congress. That is the point being made.

They will get paid is not good enough. Imagine if these employers didn't show up to work and told their bosses - don't worry, we will get the work done! They'd be fired on the spot.

It's not acceptable to make people work without pay. SHAME ON YOU.

The answer : Its a BS talking point and solution to nothing.

No, it is absolutely accurate. If they give in to Trump on this one, next week it will be something else, and the week after that something again. He will shut down the government every chance he gets.

Why are so many so clueless? Serious question.
Great. But they never even attempted. The wall wasn't a "national emergency" until dems took the house.

They also didn't even have the full support of their own party so it's not just dems who don't want a wall.
