In 2006 many prominent Democrats voted for a wall to be built. Now they do an about-face.
That's not reasonable.

See how that works both ways? What a dumb Leftist thread.
Yep,thats the jist of this whole mess, NEITHER side wants to look weak by caving in to the others demands.

The side that DOES blink first is doomed, they both know this too.

Just like the MSM, over hype EVERYTHING.

It is the job of CONGRESS to pass bills the president can sign.

Where is the bill for the REQUIRED budget that pelosi and her dems passed so Trump CAN sign it?

"it takes at least 2 to negotiate.

Pelosi wanted to leave the county for a week and NOT sit down for a compromise.

Trump has laid down a number, where is pelosi's and shumer's counter numbers?

Looks like both pelosi and shumer don't care about gov't workers also.
There was a bill that the Dems and Reps passed weeks before the shutdown. Trump was going to sign it, but walked away. This is on him. Pelosi's offer is $5.7 billion for border security if the government is reopened. Why isn't Trump accepting that? Because he wants his monument of a wall, when the majority don't want that and there are better ways to enhance border security.

Democrats hate US citizens. They prefer illegal aliens. They've made that abundantly clear.

Since then, Dems have come out as the party that hates US citizens. It's as simple as that.

He is sinking so quickly in the polls that, sooner or later, he will cry Uncle (without admitting it, of course). He already has.

This reminds me of Somali Pirates who have hijacked a ship and think they hold the cards while the US Navy is about to spring upon them........

Trump makes so many mistakes that it's hard to say this is the worst - but, wow, the spread (in polls) moves almost daily.

I flew yesterday and felt like telling all the TSA employees that they are my heroes.

Trump is losing this one big time...and it's a loss of his own making. It shouldn't have been done in the first place, so "blaming the Democrats" is not in the cards.

Congress and the POTUS can talk about issues in the normal course. The USA does not pay ransom to kidnappers.....it's a fact we don't. We also cannot pay any homage (other than some BS symbolic thing to let Donnie save a little face) to his Shutdown.

We must make sure he...nor any future POTUS...uses this as a negotiating tactic.

Please. Not the Washington Post's phony fact checker. Have you noticed every single one of the "facts" they check agree with the Marxist agenda?

Trump is only shutting down the government because you can't run a government without having a budget in place first.
Dems and Reps passed a bill a few weeks before shutdown that Trump had basically agreed to. He walked away. Dems aren't holding anybody hostage. They are offering $5.7 billion for enhanced border security if the government is reopened. Why does it have to be a wall? Because Trump wants a monument, pure and simple. The majority don't want a wall.

"border security" just a buzz word that is meaningless,we have had "border security" for decades and its done no good, its time to change what we are doing and that means the wall. Leftists don't want TRUE border security because eventually they will elect a democrat president who will give amnesty to the millions they are allowing to flood across the border and become democrat voters once they get that amnesty for them. This is the PERFECT example of party and politics and votes OVER Country.
