Social Democracy

I would like it to be 8 parties.. so that the loonies could occupy the far right and far right.
And the great masses of people would elect the parties in the middle. Where there is common ground.

Right now, the old Republican Party has been hijacked by far right extremists backed by **** brother money. Hellbent on destroying institutions built for American workers, during the worst times in America.

And has resulted in the Democratic Party being pulled towards the right by the Republicans crazy talking points.

Right Wing Authoritarianism:

You do realize that there is such a thing as Left wing authoritarianism?

Left-wing authoritarianism is not a myth, but a worrisome reality...

First, we aim to contribute to the ongoing discussion on left-wing authoritarianism. Using representative samples, the relationship between authoritarianism and ...
All I care about is that we remain a Constitutional Republic. Not a Democracy, Socialist Aristocracy or Collectivism of which those on the Left are advocates for.

Quote:
A Constitutional Republic is a form of government where the head of state and other officials are elected as representatives of the people, representatives mandated to govern according to existing constitutional law. It is because of this mandate that the elected class in a Constitutional Republic is limited in their power over the citizenry. THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WAS CREATED AS AND INTENDED TO SURVIVE AS A CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC.

Our Constitutional Republic is separated into three separate but equal branches of government; the Executive, Legislative and Judicial, represented by the Presidency, Congress and the Courts. Because of this no branch has a rein on absolute power thus assuring that there will be checks and balances to the governmental system and protection for the rule of law.

Through the elected representation employed by our Constitutional Republic the influence of the majority is tempered by protections for individual rights as mandated by constitutional law. Our form of government is deliberate in its attempt to thwart majoritarianism, thereby protecting political dissent and individuals and minority groups from the "tyranny of the majority" by placing checks on the power of the majority of the population. The power of the majority of the people is checked by limiting that power to electing representatives who are required to legislate with limits of overarching constitutional law which a simple majority cannot modify.

"A pure unbridled democracy is a political system in which the majority enjoys absolute power by means of democratic elections. In an unvarnished democracy, unrestrained by a constitution, the majority can vote to impose tyranny on themselves and the minority opposition. They can vote to elect those who will infringe upon our inalienable God-given rights. Thomas Jefferson referred to this as elected despotism in Notes on the State of Virginia (also cited in Federalist 48 by Madison):"

Boo!

Nothing is more stifling of our progress that should forever be in progress than this backward "love it or leave it" way of thinking!

Imagine working in a company, a strong blue-chip wealthy company, and every time someone suggests a change that might help make the company even stronger, maybe bigger and better, the CEO asks the sort of question you ask. Ignorant!

"I am certainly not an advocate for frequent and untried changes in laws and constitutions, I think moderate imperfections had better be borne with; because, when once known, we accommodate ourselves to them and find practical means of correcting their ill effects. But I know, also, that laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths disclosed, and manners and opinions change with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also, and keep pace with the times."

"We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy, as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors."

--Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816.

Mine would be something single party state of course with my own party being the sole party but the nations people being 100% behind said party, preferably ruled by 1 ruler so I guess a dictatorship but I could be OK with something like most European nations have which is several parties system. I despise democracy I think its corrupt and evil and harmful, that the whole country can be held hostage to the whims of a louder and wealthier minority especially with a media system in its corner pushing its agenda 24/7 and children indoctrinated 5 days a week in the schools that are also controlled and funded by the same loud rich people.
Not so simple I don't think but fascinating to think about. A subject always of interest to me and most humans as well documented throughout the course of our history, but let me get this out of the way just for starters...

I always feel a little silly if I come off like any comment or insight will make a difference to anyone in this forum. You can tell by the comments already posted in this thread, we've all got our preconceived notions about the answer to your question, and we're not altogether too open to considering much else. Still, there is much else to consider...

WARNING: All the examples of all the isms from prior history in our country and the rest of the world mostly serves to bias our opinions according to what happened in the past or even the present under very different circumstances compared to our issues and challenges in America today. We are best served not to speak in terms of any particular ism but rather what will work best all considered given the present circumstances, challenges and goals.

One example to perhaps help me make my point; health care. Rather than simply declare universal health care as "socialism" and then point to the "socialism" in Venezuela as all the example we need to believe that universal health care = socialism = bad, we should instead think in terms of the intended goal and how best to achieve it!

More often than not, especially since most people don't really know their isms from their rear ends, using these political labels only tends to detract from the sort of thinking Thomas Jefferson encouraged and/or that JFK warned about...

"For the great enemy of truth is very often not the lie--deliberate, contrived and dishonest--but the myth--persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the cliches of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought." -- JFK
