A prime example of why it's time to tax churches or at least churches that get involved in politics. I live in Oklahoma where the same laws were on the books until last year because of the influence of the Southern Baptist church. Why should a religious institution be able to enforce their rules on others including those who don't follow their religion?

You say it's politics because everything is politics with you? They see it as a moral issue. I disagree with them but I also disagree with you trying to define this as politics.

It is politics because the law applies to everyone in the state, not just members of the LDS church. Non-LDS residents of Utah are forced to drink crappy watered down beer because the LDS church believes drinking alcohol of any kind is sin.

Does it matter to you what Utah does? Doesn't matter to me what New York does.

Personally I'd rather live in Utah than New York. Lower taxes and the people are a hell of a lot nicer.

How is a religion attempting to make laws conform to its own version of 'moral' anything but politics? If it was strictly a moral issue, those who believe anything stronger than 3.2% beer to be immoral would simply not drink it.
