It's not a "gimmick", its a long overdue way of addressing a very serious problem that a majority of Americans agree on: Climate change.

Don't expect GOP whores to bite the hand that feeds them.

Then you should be glad that it's going to be voted on.

Do you even realize what you are saying?

You are on the wrong side of history.

Default New Green Deal Will Be Voted On in the Senate

What you and McConnell wish is that the nutty stuff you've been told about is what a "New Green Deal" bill would contain.

It won't.

If it gets to the senate, it'll mostly be about public transportation and renewable energy.

Let's see McConnell go ahead and put a Dem bill on the floor for a vote.

That slug simply will not take any action favorable to the public.

lmao...Dude, touting this idea as something even remotely workable makes you and everyone else doing it a damn fool, a laughing stock of immaturity. THAT is the face of the new Dem party, Immature fools.

I certainly am.

I want everyone on record, Republicans and Democrats alike. This will be the baseline, and we will proceed from there.

This is not a 'one season' program. It is about making America greater than ever, if it takes years or even decades it is worth striving for.

Looks like McConnell is about to grab a wolf by the ears, he may soon regret it.

I hope you are able to keep that sense of humor later. You will need it.

You will want to get with Senator Markey (D-MA) on that, as he is the one who is objecting to it now.

You're being disingenuous witht that comment. I don't necessarily support the bill, at least not as it is written, but the goals are stated very clearly:

Quote:
5 (A) to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas
6 emissions through a fair and just transition for
7 all communities and workers;
8 (B) to create millions of good, high-wage
9 jobs and ensure prosperity and economic secu10 rity for all people of the United States;
11 (C) to invest in the infrastructure and in12 dustry of the United States to sustainably meet
13 the challenges of the 21st century;
14 (D) to secure for all people of the United
15 States for generations to come—
16 (i) clean air and water;
17 (ii) climate and community resiliency;
18 (iii) healthy food;
19 (iv) access to nature; and
20 (v) a sustainable environment; and
21 (E) to promote justice and equity by stop22 ping current, preventing future, and repairing
23 historic oppression of indigenous communities,
24 communities of color, migrant communities,
25 deindustrialized communities, depopulated rural communities, the poor, low-income workers,
2 women, the elderly, the unhoused, people with
3 disabilities, and youth (referred to in this reso4 lution as ‘‘frontline and vulnerable commu5 nities’’);

The goals are mostly reasonable goals. Everyone knows that it is not to be taken litterally, just the same way as Trump supporters didn't REALLY mean that Mexico would pay for the wall, or that ACA would be repealed and replaced in the first 100 days of his admin.

If you read the bill, and use a little bit of intelligence (you can get help on this one if you need to), you can see that it's written as a goal to move in the direction that their platform/party stands for. You may or may not agree with them (I certainly don't agree with all of their policies), but try to be honest.

I'll at least say this: It's refreshing to see a party do what they say they stand for. Trump says he stands for the little guy, then he pulls a stunt like giving big business perminant tax breaks, whilst eliminating deductions from the little guy, and giving a few short-term gimme's to apeas the ignorant.

He says he's going to cure HIV, but offers no solution, only defuning the programs that have helped a cure progress.

These people (Green Party) may be a bit out there. I would not vote for them, but give them credit. Unlike Trump, they are at least proposing policy that supports the platform that got them elected.

AGAIN: I am not commenting on if I support it or not, I'm just saying that if you are going to debate what is in it, then at least start with what is actually in it.
