So if Trump can go around Congress for the wall, get ready for the next D president to go full force on confronting the national epidemic of gun violence.

I didn’t want an expansion of executive power, but you cons seem ok with it to further your pet projects. You’ll have to bear that position in mind when the shoe is on the other foot.

Typical nonsensical response by the left.

Trump is mot expanding the executive branch, that's sophomoric of you. Trump is actually following the US Constitution and his oath of office by trying to prevent illegal border crossings. And your response amounts to demanding that he should ban the 2nd amendment?

Did the gun get up and do it or did someone make the conscience decision to do it?

Because the day a gun chambers a round and commits an atrocity all on its own... then you will be valid in your claim that firearms are the problem.

Have you informed the following liberal-fanatic poster of this new "fact"?

//www.city-data.com/forum/polit...l#post54439360

People have been abusing weapons, injuring and killing people etc. since long before the U.S. was even founded. Little or nothing has been done all that time, aside from founding police forces, courts jails etc. None of it quickly.

And this liberal fanatic has now announced that if it didn't require immediate action, then it isn't an emergency.

You leftists need to get your stories straight. But then, you always have needed to.
If you read the whole thread, you will see that I am also opposed to declaring a national emergency over gun violence.

The purpose of this thread is simply to illustrate that under the logic Trump is using to declare an emergency about border crossings, gun violence would have to also be considered an emergency if the same logic was applied.

So obviously, it's not an emergency.
Obama went around Congress to push through that Iranian deal. As I recall, there were side deals and giveaways that he was keeping secret from them - and from us, whom Congress represents. If Democrats were fine with Obama doing an end-run around Congress to pass what was essentially a treaty with a state sponsor of terror, and via the pro-Arab U.N. no less, then re-arranging money to stem the tide of illegal immigrants should be fine, as well.

And let's not forget the middle-of-the-night ransom drop, for which Iran released American hostages. (Obama should have required their release as part of the deal altogether. Who in their right minds agrees to a deal with an adversary when they are still holding our citizens hostage?!)

You have a far bigger chance of being killed by an illegal behind the wheel than the less than 1/10 of 1% chance of being killed in a mass shooting.

You'd better quickly get over there and remind the killer that there are laws against shooting up a workplace. Or innocent people. Or murder. Especially in Illinois.

Remind them that there were other new anti-gun laws passed as of January 1, 2019 too.

I'm sure they'll stop and listen to reason once you do that.

Are you feigning ignorance? Most gun deaths are suicides. Suicide doesn't effect me, it might bum out some people that know the person but if someone wants to die and not take anyone with them, fine.

I agree, treat it like cars.

You must pass a test of your safety knowledge and obtain a license to own a gun.

You must also register every gun that you own.
400 million guns of which probably 1/3 were made before any type of serial number was ever thought of. Good luck with getting the toothpaste back into the tube.

You don't need a drivers license to own or operate a car in the USA. You just need a drivers license to operate that car on a public road. For example, you can legally buy a car (without license), have it driven to your property, and then drive it to your hearts content on your property.
