Really, what about pride in ones family, school, state, sports team, ancestors? Pride in heritage is why people pass down traditions, clothing, foods, and stories from their ancestors to their children and children's children to keep their culture and heritage alive.

I would say that here in the north we only fly American flags, but that's not true. There are certain towns that seem to have a good number of Confederate flags flown by residents - some within driving distance of me.
I guess they're all just showing their southern pride.
I believe the residents of this town in NY flew the Confederate flag till 1946.
