I think space exploration is awesome, but I'd really rather we took care of people here on earth first. We can get to Mars, but we can't puzzle out how to make UHC work? Please.

I agree. Space exploration is awesome. I would also like to see the money that it would take to get to the moon put to use here on earth. We have so many problems but then again the with the way our elected throw around billions of dollars with no accountability I suppose it doesn't matter if NASA gets a part of the action.

Wouldn’t it be more economical for NASA to pool resources with the European and Russian space agencies to do this. Developing off world bases will have to be a global effort in order for it to be economically feasible. The international space station is an example of how this model works. Space is one area where we don’t need to be so nationalistic.

I don't see how we can call it universal health care if we confine it to one planet in the universe.

If we inhabit the Moon and Mars we would have a better claim. It'll take AI advancements to make both affordable. The jobs made obsolete in health care could transition to jobs on the Moon base and eventually Mars too.

Eventually such exploration WILL benefit people here on earth and some of the biggest problems we face today.

Just imagine if they discovered a means of 'gravity control' or 'anti-gravity', suddenly, people no longer need fuel for their vehicles, transportation, moving materials, etc would all become much more efficient and less expensive.
