As we all know Trump has been pushing aggressively to undermine Putin's economy - especially in regards to selling energy to Western Europe.

Trump has been pushing American products of gas, natural gas, liquified natural gas into Western Europe in competition with Putin.

Merkel is now upset, because Trump is undermining her deal with Putin over a pipeline that will give Russia Billions to sell more energy into Western Europe. Merkel argues that she has worked out deal that Russia can give cheaper prices while Trump seeks sanctions on Russian gas and has increased US sales there.

Many experts are claiming that Trump is spooking investors away from Russia as he has lowered their profits considerably.

Trump

Trump has been arguing that Russia has a near stranglehold over energy in Western Europe and that it is in the EU's best interest to diversify away from this.

You say it yourself -- Trump is trying to promote American products. That isn't a direct attempt to undermine Putin's economy that's just wanting Germany to buy American.

Trump's erratic approach to trade has made all the allies wary of doing business with the USA.

MAGA.

Just another reason for liberals that hate America to hate Trump even more, Trump is making America great again to their wailing and gnashing of teeth in frustration at America and Americans successes.

If Russia is a real military threat to the EU, should the EU be getting that much energy from them, which would be crippling if it were instantly shut off?

If Russia has Trump in their back pocket, why is Trump costing their economy billions and hurting their stocks with his policies that Obama didn't have?

I am sure the Germans would be happy to buy US Gas is there was a pipeline, however there isn't and to export gas to Europe it has to be liquified and shipped to an LNG port where it is placed in storage.

Most UK Gas comes from the North Sea and Norway, with about 10% coming from LNG Carriers, the main LNG supplier to the UK is Qatar, however the UK has started taking some LNG cargos from the US.

We should not be exporting any raw resources including coal, natural gas, oil and many other things to any country without a hefty export tax. We should be capitalizing on those resources to export manufactured products instead and let everyone else fend for themselves.

As far as Germany and Europe go they have be nuts to rely on Russia for energy. With their goals of CO2 reduction they are putting all their eggs in one basket for critical infrastructure.

Fossil fuel exports are critical to the Russian economy.

Exports of crude oil and petroleum products represented nearly 70% of total Russian petroleum liquids production in 2016. Russia’s oil and natural gas industry is a key component of Russia’s economy, with revenues from oil and natural gas activities—including exports—making up 36% of Russia’s federal budget revenues.
