Putin has found a weak American President that he can push around. We caught him violating a missile treaty and he now threatens to place missiles closer to the United States.

This is what we get when we play nice with authoritarians and play rough with our allies.

I suppose this is what the Trump-MAGA crowd calls "winning"?

What happened to the Republican Party? They used to be the ones who stood up for America in the world.

I guess it's only when those Godless Communists that threaten our common sense traditional values are in power in some other country does it make sense for Republicans to take on tyrants.

I thought based on the title this would have something to do with Clinton's and their assistance in Skolkovo that led to the Russians building a hyper-sonic missile. My mistake.

Yes -- it is pitting the left and right in the USA against each other.

And yes Trump doesn't help because he is so vocal. In one breath he's denying the information provided by American Intelligence and claiming Putin's version of a story and in the next claiming to be 'tough' on Russia.

Its astonishing really that so many would be willing to start another nuclear arms race and cold war with Russia over the fact that a sitting president isn't one from their own team. NATO (really the US) has missiles pointed at Russia from locations all over Europe. Can you imagine the outrage here if Russia had them pointed at the US from Cuba,Canada or Mexico?
Time for us to quit antagonizing and pull out of NATO.

I don't think many European countries would want US Intermediate-Range Nuclear Missiles based on their soil.

As for Russia, it's hardly in great economic shape when it comes to challenging other nations to an arms race.

Just more bluster from Putin, who likes to posture on the world stage and the Russians like to hear how powerful and magnificent their country is, although in reality it is hardly a great economic power, and an arms race is the last thing Russia needs.

Russia also has a weakness, which the US can exploit without the need to base missiles in Europe.

Pull out of NATO?
Invest an hour and watch the documentary that I posted at the bottom of post 1. I promise you it is not liberal propaganda. It gives real insight to the mind of Putin.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. Putin reminds me of Kruschev and Gromyko.
