Pay them this way. In a proper e-verify system you won't be able to claim what you paid them on your taxes.
They money they were paying these people was peanuts compared to the labor they provided to the company...at the end of the day, the company comes out way ahead, even though they cannot account for these employees.

They come out ahead until caught. It's not tough to catch this if you have a government that really wants to. You don't have a construction business doing millions of dollars a year with six employee's.

Undocumented immigrants who are required by their employer to show ID, tend to use fake green and SS cards, not licenses.
