Wearing a hat is a choice--not central to anyone's religion, race or gender. It is just a hat with letters promoting your own political opinions. Take it off and you won't have any problems.

Yes, BUT. Would you also consider trying to run someone off the road, and cursing at them, for having a Kerry or Hillary for President stickers on their car to be a hate crime as well? Both happened to me. Latter was when I was in the car with my infant and toddler grandsons in their car seats.
