Personally, I don't think Pelosi truly believes it's not worth it.

Why Impeaching Trump Is ‘Worth It’
By Philippe Reines

There is also a mounting political cost to not impeaching Mr. Trump. He will hail it as exoneration and he will go into the 2020 campaign under the banner “I Told You So,” declaring that for all their talk of removing him from office, Democrats had merely been playing politics for three years...

But perhaps the most persuasive political case for impeachment is the long view. Set aside what it would mean for the 2020 elections. Mr. Trump is a pernicious, divisive figure who is poisoning our politics, and hopes to do so for years to come. Should he lose in 2020, he has already laid the groundwork for an all-out assault against the media, the political establishment and the Democratic Party itself.

You really want to convince half the country that civil war is necessary? Because that's what an absurdly illegitimate impeachment will get you.

So Democrats should go ahead with impeachment processes without conclusive evidence because it might hurt their election chances in 2020 if they don't? That's a bad look.

I don't think impeachment is wise at this point.

It would be if Reps had a spine and would act to remove him but they won't.

So it will just be a distraction and he will drum up the persecution complex even more to rile up his base.

The Dems need to focus on having a message that can win in 2020.

I'm also convinced that the serious and atypical political divisions we've seen since 2016 will only get worse if he was removed somehow, but they might improve if he is defeated at the ballot box.

LOL how stupid do you people think we are? Trump isnt divisive. His haters are. You would attempt to use the impeachment process merely to overturn the results of democracy.

I order to impeach Trump, an offense committed while in office must be proven. Being elected is no an impeachable offense. There are no grounds for impeachment. What they are talking about is a coup. A forcible removal from office based on him not being in line with the left and him defeating their candidate in 2016. This impeachment business is ridiculous.

Well I am not one of those who are in favor of impeaching Trump. But I do understand the frustration of those who do.

Because our leaders, especially in Congress are not leading. They only lead when they are forced to. And that is why so many of us are turning to the left and right, for instance in 2016 to Bernie and Trump, or more recently to people like AOC, because we cannot get our traditional leaders to actually carry out their promises.

Impeachment and banishment of Trump from office would be quite a good deal for Republicans. The vice president replacing him--Pence--acts much more saner, of much sounder Christian Right in character, and along with him having a head start to being president, which would help him win the 2020 election, especially if the Democrat is on the far left.

That's not going to happen, so Democrats are wishing on a star for a Watergate-like gift from the heavens.
