Wow, these spending proposals are coming fast and daily.

The deficit and debt is going up enough now. Liberals claim that President Trump's tax reductions are costing more than advertised. The Democratic proposals are going to be far, far, far more than advertised.

The cost of legislation is always far, far than advertised. It's also became a daily occurance where Democrats are proposing new debt and tax raising schemes for programs that can be addressed at the state and local level.

If a state or district wants to raise taxes for $13,500 raises for each teacher than let it be.

The US spending per student exceeds even Finland, we are not getting a good return on the money. Solve that before dumping any more money into it.

At that, teacher pay is a local issue, not a federal one aside from minimum wage and labor laws.

Why not just abolish all government schools?

Conservatives never have any solutions.

You cant compare the cost to educate a child in the US and compare it to other nations.

We have schools that have 30 sports teams for both sexes vs some European systems that dont sponsor school run sports teams at all. Some of those nations also have systems that dont pay for their students transportation either.

You would have to basically compare the bare bones of each system to figure out how much more (or less) the US is spending per child, and I dont see any real comparisons online.

Move all of the extracurricular stuff out of the schools (and into the private sector) and save the money.

Then deal with the content of what's being taught.

Start there.

Continuing to throw money at it when it's already not working is insanity.

Stands to reason, they could get better teachers if they pay them more than secretaries make.

?? Teachers in FL make less than secretaries in FL?

Teachers in NJ ~50K to 75K typical with some with huge tenure and doctorates up to 110K. Ultra luxe bennies are mostly gone now in NJ tho.

So, moving it to the private sector saves the parents money? I find that hard to believe, because private schools are pretty expensive.

Or just abolish all government schools completely and let parents pay their own way.
