A federal judge in Maryland ruled on Friday against the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 census.

Quote:
In his ruling, Hazel wrote, “The unreasonableness of Defendants’ addition of a citizenship question to the Census is underscored by the lack of any genuine need for the citizenship question, the woefully deficient process that led to it, the mysterious and potentially improper political considerations that motivated the decision and the clear pretext offered to the public.”

Terrible idea. The goal of the census is to count everyone in America, not just citizens. Adding that question will obviously depress participation among the undocumented, which is the whole point.

It would have been nice to get the true number of illegals, instead of the "11 million" we've been hearing about for the past 10+ years.

No, it's not. It's to allocate Congressional representation. Illegal aliens don't count, at least not yet.

The judge was an Obama appointee. Shocking. Fortunately he'll get reversed.

How can they be "not counted," if we don't know how many there are?

Well, the liberals want them to count. That's why this leftist judge said asking the question is unconstitutional. He wants illegals to be counted in the census so the left leaning areas get more representatives in the house of representatives.

Basically it's a partisan decision, which is what you should expect from any judge appointed to the bench by Zero.

Also....Maryland. just saying.

So we have no clue what percentage of those living in Southern California are illegal. Just saying that too.

Yes they do count.

Congressional representation is based on total population, not citizens only.

Again, the goal of the census is to count all people in the country, including illegal aliens.

They have always counted, this has nothing to do with liberals “wanting them to”. The attempted change here is from conservatives seeking to undercount them since cons don’t feel they should count.
