Densely populated metropolitan areas in states like New York and California tend to vote for Democratic candidates. This explains why Democrats push for an amendment to abolish the Electoral College.

It is that simple.

The electoral college helps to protect against the possibility that several very densely populated cities will decide the presidential election for the entire nation. This explains why Democrats push for an amendment to abolish the Electoral College.

It is that simple.

And sparsely populated rural areas tend to vote republican so I guess that's why they want to have a system that gives those areas disproportionate influence.

But is it such a bad thing if the candidate most people vote for gets elected?

So farmers should get double votes? That doesn't seem to make sense, lots of people do useful things in an economy but you don't get extra votes depending on what job you do.

Liberty consists in the division of power. Abolishing the electoral college, Absolutism, in concentration of power. The Framers of the Constitution aimed to preserve your unalienable rights and mine by preventing the concentration of political power in the central government.

Leftist politicians and Liberal media is leading their viewers on again....

To abolish or ratify the electoral college would require a two-thirds majority in the House and the Senate and three quarters of the states.

Perhaps they got it wrong on this one, they did get other stuff wrong too, constitutions can always be changed if they are no longer fit for purpose, that's what amendments are for.
