Gun Control vs Gun Rights. A battle since America's Founding, perhaps, but one that really took off since the late '60s to become what it is today.
On one extreme, will Gun Control advocates come to believe their efforts only seem to strengthen the opposition and just "give up?" Might they determine their endeavors to control guns are better spent elsewhere to reduce violence?
On the other extreme, will Gun Rights enthusiasts find their efforts thwarted even more by politicians influenced by a population frustrated by their perception of gun violence? Might their Rights be whittled down till there are nearly none left?
Perhaps divisions between gun-friendly vs gun-free states will become even more pronounced. I can hardly believe this battle will just continue to see-saw for the rest of our lives!

I think Gun Rights will continue to erode as they have since the Civil War were gun laws were enacted to keep Blacks from having guns. However, as the gun laws get stricter, we will se widespread civil disobedience as these laws only affect the law abiding, who will become, ironically, criminals overnight. Gun bans and confiscation won't work in the United States, but they are coming.

More control laws, and as a logical outcome thereof, less compliance.
Look no further than CT an NY passing various post-Sandy Hook hysterics into law, and each getting no more than 4% compliance.
In math terms:
More laws (L) * constant amount of noncompliance (k) = higher overall noncompliance (N)
As L increases, N must also increase. That k really is constant in the US. At best, maybe 5% of responsible gun owners will ever comply with a new ex post facto law for their weapons and/or ammunition. More laws might make some people feel good, but they'll accomplish little more than being able to classify more people as criminals for exactly no reason.
Considering the two biggest gun-grabbing Presidents of the past 50 years have been Reagan and Trump, I hold very little hope of the GOP actually doing anything to protect the property rights of gun owners.
Add in the fact that most conservatives and MAGAs venerate cops, even though cops are the ones who are and will be enforcing red flag laws, and the situation is very grim.

As long as we have a 2nd amendment nothing will change. Going after law abiding citizens gun ownership will backfire on democrats.
Since our SCOTUS is now right leaning we should see a good portion of these new laws removed. At some point they couldn't keep rejecting to rule on them.
I think it will continue as it has- kind of like smoking regulations.
Blue States will keep tweaking laws to show that they are "doing something" but positive results will be limited.
A brave Democrat (Beto .... ?) who needs some bipartisan cred should start touting coming down hard on straw purchases. That is something everyone should agree on.
There is talk that over 300K high cap mags are inbound to California now that the ban is on hold. That's 300K in a few days. Would our Gov like a million new felons in the State when they are releasing existing actual criminals as fast as they can.
