It won't backfire on him. It will backfire on Dems and their sanctuary cities/states. Pay for those illegal aliens you claim to want. Go ahead... Open your wallets. Let your social programs for citizens be cut. Defund school programs for US citizens in favor of illegals, etc. Go for it!
According to this article asylum seekers can wait in Mexico per ruling in the 9th circuit court. So, why can't we have the Illegal Aliens wait in Mexico as well?

They are going to stay where they feel most welcome and in most cases sanctuary cities fit that bill. Or with relatives like you said.
This is a PR move for Trump. He can't stop them so "punishing" sanctuary cities looks good to his base. This has nothing to do with whether or not Trump understands the problem.

Well, it's time for the liberals to make good on their claims of compassion. The people who vote Democrat should get their checkbooks out to pay for all of these people too.
You'd think the dem libs would be happy that all these illegals are shipped to the sanctuary cities. But they aren't and for a few good reasons. 1) The sanctuary cities are already hard core democrat. They've got enough votes in those places already. They need to place these illegals in places that they need the votes. 2) Crime would go through the roof. Imagine 100K south of the boarder illegals being located in San Francisco. Feinstein wouldn't have the resources to keep them out of even her neighborhood.

Finally! Someone with what appears to be a good point. If Trump has options to keep them in Mexico he should do so. Any that he is forced to let in to the country should be sent to sanctuary cities though.
