They're dead, or laying on the ground with Limbs blown off, after a concerted attack at multiple location by a group of violent Terrorists. They are the embodiment of "restraint".
My friend obviously was being sarcastic. He was making fun of the State Department's usual call for "restraint" after an atrocity, say, a suicide bombing or a truck ramming of pedestrians.
Saudi Arabia has a clout and they have deep pockets. Their version of Islam is not accepted by majority, but since they can fund Islamic schools they have been successfully twisting the religious texts to suit their agenda. Heck they don't even respect the beliefs of most Muslims (they purposefully destroyed a lot of historical sites associated with Islamic figures despite protests from a lot of Muslims). Who is going to stop them?
If tomorrow, someone decides to start calling themselves muslim and fashion themselves into 'caricature' of what most non-muslims perceive to be an Islamic garb, and blows up a place and say they did it in the name of Allah and prophet, what can an ordinary muslim do to stop it? If you notice, a lot of these so called 'radical islamist' have lived a life far cry from Islamic in nature until they overnight turn into a born again Muslim with a very destructive understanding of Islam. Who would benefit from that? Maybe that question might lead to answers.
Please explain how you 'twist' the Koran, when it clearly says to go out and kill the unbelievers wherever you find them. That's pretty straightforward language.

Please quote the actual verse from Koran that says to go out and kill non-believers (also include the previous and the next verses).

along those same lines, certain dim politicians have a very hard time calling the victims here Christians - preferring instead to refer to them as 'tourists' and 'Easter worshippers'
