Iraq Travel Advisory

Do not travel to Iraq due to terrorism, kidnapping, and armed conflict.

U.S. citizens in Iraq are at high risk for violence and kidnapping. Numerous terrorist and insurgent groups are active in Iraq and regularly attack both Iraqi security forces and civilians. Anti-U.S. sectarian militias may also threaten U.S. citizens and Western companies throughout Iraq. Attacks by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) occur in many areas of the country, including Baghdad.

The U.S. government’s ability to provide routine and emergency services to U.S. citizens in Iraq is extremely limited. On May 15, 2019, the Department of State ordered the departure of non-emergency U.S. government employees from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and the U.S. Consulate in Erbil; normal visa services will be temporarily suspended at both posts. On October 18, 2018, the Department of State ordered the temporary suspension of operations at the U.S. Consulate General in Basrah. The American Citizens Services (ACS) Section at the U.S. Embassy Baghdad will continue to provide consular services to U.S. citizens in Basrah.

U.S. citizens should not travel through Iraq to Syria to engage in armed conflict, where they would face extreme personal risks (kidnapping, injury, or death) and legal risks (arrest, fines, and expulsion). The Kurdistan Regional Government stated that it will impose prison sentences of up to ten years on individuals who illegally cross the border. Additionally, fighting on behalf of, or supporting designated terrorist organizations, is a crime that can result in penalties, including prison time and large fines in the United States.

So what prompted this?

A Look At The Specific Intelligence Causing State Dept. Warning -Leave Iraq ASAP
Per news sources, the United States told people to ‘bug out” of Iraq because of “specific and credible” intelligence that Iranian forces and/or their proxies were planning to target U.S. forces in locations including Iraq. That was behind the Pentagon recommending a carrier strike group be moved to the region, and Secretary Pompeo’s rush trip to Iraq last week.

Investigative Journalist and Iran expert Ken Timmerman gave insight into the source of the Iranian threats last week. Timmerman explained there was recent intelligence that Iran was planning “imminent” attacks on U.S. persons or U.S. assets in Iraq. The intelligence came from an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) General in charge of information, who was fired by the supreme leader on April 19th and reacted to being fired by defecting to the west.

...
General Ali Nasiri (pictured above) is rumored to have taken refuge in a U.S. embassy or consulate in a nearby Persian Gulf state. And he brought gifts; including a large volume of documents recording the travels of senior IRGC commanders, intelligence personnel and operational units to foreign countries, all under cover of diplomatic missions. That intelligence information was given to the United States.

My prior thread on his defection here from last month...

Iranian Brigadier General Rumored to have Defected and Fled Iran

Apparently he gave the U.S. a deep treasure chest of documents and info on Iran. It looks like based on how Iran is behaving, it is consistent with the intel received and they are taking no chances.

Get ready for another false flag attack. The US war hawks are trying to start and war and if they can't find a reason they will make one.

Remember the Gulf of Tonkin and the Weapons of Mass Destruction? Here we go again.

What's the reason? For one thing Trump needs a diversion. However, the major issues is the petrodollar and control over oil rich countries. Check it out. Iraq, it wanted to leave the petrodollar in favor of another system of payment. Gaddafi wanted to go to the gold backed dinar. US took them both out. The US has a list of oil rich middle east countries it plans to attack. Iran is next on the list. It's all about money. The war hawks don't give a crap about our children or grandchildren who will die in another useless war. Secondly Russia has a vested interest in Iran. One small mistake and it's all over for all of us.

Don't go to Iraq. You don't say. Trump's way of attempting to warn Iran. I don't know even I have doubts that Trump would not be idiotic enough to invade Iran. But I admit it is a very close call.

Did you say that about Obama? He sure wanted us in Libya and Syria both of whom posed 0 threat to the USA.

Iran has been threatening our ships since the 70's. We have been very tolerant for of their antics.

I hope it blows over because that region should not be our area to police.

Needs a diversion from what? There would have been more reason for a diversion in the past when collusion-gate was in full swing.

I pretty much explained what I believe is happening. Hopefully Iran won't start any mess since we are preparing for them - and things will stay quiet.

What your reaction does say is that for any reason - whether it is justified or not - those suffering from TDS will say it's a diversion, and any action will be unjustified.

"Hey, honey, where do you want to go for a vacation?"

"How about Iraq! I heard that country is fun! Maybe we can see some beheading over there!"

Seriously, do people really need a travel advisory? lol

Not trying to be mean, but your response sounds as though you are young and do not have much life experience.

This is a high level advisory. People are involved in government work, or military, or contract work over there. They aren't directing this to people who use Southwest Airlines and Carnival Cruise Lines.

Americans at Benghazi lost their lives under an attack some years ago during the prior administration. They probably would have appreciated a heads up so they could get out of there.
