Yes that is partial spin but not really. Facts are we lost long ago and there is nothing to win anyway.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Amid a battlefield stalemate in Afghanistan , the U.S. military has stopped releasing information often cited to measure progress in America’s longest war, calling it of little value in fighting the Taliban insurgency.

18 years and we are at a stalemate? What exactly is the point? Afghanistan has now kicked the ass of the Soviet Union and the United States. You can not defeat a people with nothing to lose.

If you were president, what would you do to fix this?

Another ill conceived mini Vietnam. The problem is that just like Vietnam no American President wants their reputation tarnished by being a Commander in Chief who lost a war. And they will tolerate American combat casualties and spend trillions of our tax dollars right down to the bitter end.

The US is negotiating with the Taliban but not with the Afghan Government and the Taliban and Afghan government are not speaking. The Taliban controls large parts of the country and any peaceful solution goes through them, they were telling leaders not to attend the recent government meetings. This is going to take some time for a solution.

Yes but the pentagon, its suppliers and the politicians who bring home the defense contracts to their voters, are all winning.

There is no "fixing this". I'd bring the soldiers home.

We have no idea who is who. There is no solution.

Bring our people home and leave Afghanistan to Afghanis. Nothing there is worth the life of an American serviceman or woman. Let the Muslims go on killing each other, brutalizing women and children and living in the 7th century. Not worth an American life-or a taxpayer dollar.

Of course the last time Trump talked about bringing our people home, the warmongers on the right and anti-Trump 'tards on the left both lost their little minds.

I'd bomb them until they act correct. What do I win?

This is really what it's all about. We give obscene amounts of money to the military industrial complex every year, and those boys need to have a place to play with all their toys. If they don't use them somewhere the funding might start to dry up, and we can't have that! That's one reason the U.S. is always in a military conflict somewhere in the world.
