The solar minimum, which could last 20-40 years, is producing lower temperatures and "late" snowfalls in the west and Midwest with late May snow storms.

With the falling of temps and increased snowfall, will this dampen the enthusiasm for AGW? How will the AGW "stoke the flames" and keep enthusiasm up for the premise when the nation is faced with continued cold temps and record snowfalls?

Summer will save the day temporarily, where "record temps" can be sited for every day above 90 degrees, but eventually those pesky cold winters and snowfall will return.

Can AGW carry on in spite of lower temps?

It's the "hot north pole cold continents" pattern, consistent with AGW. The thinking is that the unusual heat waves at the pole (30, 40 or more degrees warmer than normal) weakens the polar vortex, which allows cold arctic air to escape and sag south into the U.S., Europe and Siberia.

The colder the north pole, the stronger the vortex, which makes a stronger "fence" to hold the cold air up in the Arctic.

From a scientific paper published in 2016:

"With the Arctic at record warm levels, the 9 years between 2007 and 2015 have exhibited the lowest minimum sea ice extents recorded in September since satellite observations began, with an all‐time record low in 2007 followed by another in 2012. Several of these seven winters following the low sea ice minima have been unusually cold across the Northern Hemisphere ... The most highly publicized proposed theory is that a warming Arctic results in a wavier polar vortex, leading to enhanced atmospheric blocking that often spawns extreme weather events..."

Man-made climate change is clearly modifying and corrupting normal weather patterns in all sorts of ways, worldwide. Record floods, record rainfall, record droughts, record cyclones and hurricanes, record heat waves.

The question is, can climate denial carry on in spite of all of the mounting evidence that AGW is real?

If it means we would get more white Christmases in Kansas City, I'm all for it.

And the 3 years of declining temperatures? How do you spin that?

No spin needed, the chart speaks for itself: Average Global Temperature

We had an extreme spike in temps in 2016 and the world fell back a little since then. As the chart shows, modest cooling follows a heat spike. But the long-term upward climb is obvious and unmistakable.

The magnitude of natural forces, as well as more prevalent "greenhouse gases" dwarfs the influence of CO2.

Keep in mind that 5% of CO2 is man made. The increase in CO2 from 280 to 420 ppm is what has concerned the AGW crowd, right? So that is an increase of 140 ppm- right?

5% of 140 ppm is 9ppm. So do you really think that 9 ppm of CO2 can do anything????!!! 9 ppm- think about that for just a second.

Lets examine greater influences on climate:

1. Solar activity- we are experiencing minimal sunspot activity and are entering a solar minimum. These are forces that have caused dramatic changes in temp, while history shows very little influence of CO2.

2. Orbit of the earth around the sun- "Layer cakes" of ancient lakebeds show periodic warming and cooling periods over 20,000 years going back millions of years. The wobble of the earth around the sun causes very periodic, predictable changes in climate over time.

3. The decline of the earth's magnetic field- This is the "elephant in the room" that the AGW crowd completely forgets about. With the decline in the strength of the magnetic field (not just shifting of the poles) reduces the ability of the earth to block radiation. This is not only IR radiation (heat), but UV and gamma rays, which are increasing rates of skin cancer around the globe.

4. The impact of water vapor, which has 1500X the effect of CO2.

PS- Temperatures are falling and sea pack ice increasing in the south pole.

Unbelievable.

The 11-year sun spot cycle does not effect earth's climate!

From your own article, OP:

Quote:
McIntosh says the sun's energy only varies by about 0.1 percent at max. That's not enough to change weather

We are NOT entering a solar minimum! We are already there! The new spots with the right magnetic configuration for Cycle 25 have already started appearing, as of last October. We'll be back at the solar sun spot maximum in about 5 or 6 years.

That will be great for Ham Radio guys like me, but has ZERO effect on the climate.

Geezz...

The question is: Do you know what a theory is? Here's a hint. It's unproven.

And "From a scientific paper" .... LOL. Really?
OK ... as long as it's from a scientific paper ... I bet they even had white lab coats.

the earth has a wobble as well as sunspot activity..before the advent of computers an astronomer took several decades to correlate all this data with earth core data..this has since been confirmed by more extensive data and calculations...there have been vast swings in the earths "climate" in the past caused by the wobble and asteroids/comets..ALL this before the advent of man on the planet...

it appears we ARE in a "normal" cycle of warming with additive components from modern man...in other words while man may not be the root cause he is ADDING to the problem..

we in this country don't even think of the gulf stream and how melting ice can/will change the global currents pattern which then change local weather...melting ice changes the salinity/density of sea water and could shut off the gulf stream and the Japanese stream on the west coast

You gotta chuckle at all the people who fancy themselves climate experts now a days.
