Trump is presumably not quite so stupid as to write the request himself - almost stupid enough, but still give him credit. He has lackeys to do this sort of work for him. He tells Sander or Rudy or someone, and they take it from there

At any rate, to what extent Donald pushed this is not so relevant as it is all these hordes of Trump leg-humpers who joined to the attack to smear anyone's record of service to country should they have the gall criticize their Dear Leader. I used to expect that in places like Nirty Korea. Now it's taken root here.

Sorry, Trump. Donald is used to buying his way in/out of everything, but you can't put a price on military valor. You have to EARN the respect of being a decorated war hero. McCain proudly wore the uniform, while Trump was scared to serve. Coward.
Somewhere on the Wall is the name of a soldier who was sent to Viet Nam in Trump's place.

The NAVY wanted the USS John S. McCain "out of site" because it is still undergoing repairs from its 2017 collision with another ship near Singapore.

The Navy don't like to advertise when their Captains accidentally drive their ships into other ships.
Please cite the news articles you are referring to.

It is remotely possible that Trump himself didn't know about this, sure. But someone in the White House actually directed that this be done. Why? Any thoughts?
What did it say and who sent it? Links?

Google is your friend:

“The White House wanted the U.S. Navy to move “out of sight” the warship USS John S. McCain ahead of President Trump's visit to Japan, according to an email reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.”

Advertise to whom exactly? It's only been sitting there since the collision but NOW they don't want people seeing the damage?

What a reach to suggest they're only just now concerned over "advertising" when pictures of the damaged ship were plastered all over the media, the thing has been visible for months with the suggestion coming from the White House rather than the Pentagon and it coming precisely concurrent with Trump's visit and his known, well publicized public scorn for an ex-pow who actually served.

Gimme a break. If it comes out later that some White House staffer took it upon him/herself to make such a suggestion, you can bet the farm Trump's thrown him/her under the same bus all those other staffers were tossed by the orange whimp refusing to take responsibility for his own churlish fragility.

My question:

Why are liberals so freakin bothered by this? Do they actually give a dam? Or is this yet another reason to whine and complain about Trump?
