I'm glad people like this author brings these issues to light. Scholars estimate that there are 45 million living in poverty. Some scholars say the number is much higher. There are 500,000 homeless in America...and a quarter of them are children. Also over 16 million American children struggle with hunger each year. From places like rural eastern Kentucky to the inner cities all across America..poverty looms. I once stayed in a huge veterans shelter in downtown Boston. There had to be about 150 vets staying there and going thru various programs. Every one of them I came to know,,,were great and wonderful human beings on hard times trying to get on their feet in a disgustingly overpriced liberal city of Boston. Sure some were addicts, but 99 percent of0 the ones I got to know were clean and struggling financially. The addicts there0 were cleaning up nicely and involved in the various programs the shelter offered. I realize that there are many con artists and hustlers who are homeless and on drugs and etc...and don't want help. Keep in mind that homeless shelters are0 full to capacity. And they have long waiting lists. There are 1000's of homeless living in their cars who have no addiction issues. There is an affordable housing crisis in America. Much of the affordable housing complexes go to refugees with their huge families that the government brings in by the th0ousands and plops in states all across the USA. Large south of the border families0 0get into low income housing co0mplexes before poor Americans0 due to their large am0ounts of children in tote. What about our own 16 million hungry children? The 45 million Americans0 living in poverty? Those 500 thousand homeless Americans who need housing? A quarter0 of them children. Why do liberal elitists hate Americas poor? Why do they put Americans dead last? Why do they want to let in millio0ns more poor people across our 0borders? With no end in sight? When we have so0 many of our own who need our help?

Where are the plans from this administration to address these issues?

Are the Dems in Congress blocking programs that would finance job-training programs, substance abuse programs or affordable housing?

What is the Trump administration doing to reduce homelessness and other issues among veterans?

Doesn’t sound like it’s a whole heck of a lot.

Sounds like these are the kind of people Trump would call "losers", no?

Sounds like the sort of people a lot of people (would) call losers.

In any other conversation, they’d be blamed for being lazy, weak, etc., but since they provide a convenient bludgeon, they’re now worthy of concern.

Words of wisdom. I heard that from childhood.

Yeah, now that trumpy has lowered the national discourse I agree. These are losers. trumpy only likes winners. Sad. <note that one must not make their impressions of trumpy too articulate or it will be unbelievable>

But seriously, I don't understand the posters here who string together political ideologies as if they are the same. For example, many write such things as "the coastal liberals are communist, marxist, socialist, anti-american blah blah blah." Then, in the OP, s/he refers to Boston as a "disgustingly overpriced liberal city." Maybe if these posters understood that there is a dark side to capitalism, we could actually get somewhere. I only skimmed the first part so not sure if I missed any more nuggets of wisdom from the OP.
