The Trump cesspool continues to enlarge as another Trump cabinet secretary is embroiled in scandal. This time it is Elaine Chao, Secretary of Transportation, diverting federal funds to help her husband, Mitch "the Turtle" McConnell win re-election.
Just another example of the Trump syndicate, I mean administration, using cabinet positions as personal fiefdoms for private gain.
Come on now, we accept these type of deals and what can the people do about it any way? The basics are that Chao pork barreled grant money to Mitch's home state. This is what our leaders do and what the voters expect them to do and how democracy works. It is no different then Biden taking his son to China and cashing in on a lucrative deal or how about the beefed up stock portfolio's of members of congress. Or how bout how they sign on to lobbying firms after their retirement, the bottom line is the establishment takes care of their own from both parties.
Nothing was illegal here that money was up for grabs and being the majority leader Mitch made sure he got his cut. Nothing to see here, business as usual.

So true sad but true. Doesn't anyone wonder how a Senator can start out as a somewhat average citizen and then after a term or 2 retire a millionaire? Bill and Hillary supposedly left the White House, in her words "broke" but a few years later they were rolling in the dough. ?
It is a fact that people get rich and fat working at the public trough of Politics but one has to wonder why when a Democrat does it there is nothing to see move along but when a Republican is questioned it is suddenly an outrage of a crisis !
" and that there was no preferential treatment for McConnell's home state

A Transportation Department official also pointed out to Politico that Kentucky places 25th among all 50 states in grant money received, earning just five out of 169 grants approved since Chao has served as secretary.
That her husband is an elected Senator and Majority Leader and she is an appointed cabinet member with authority to grant funds, creates the perception of a conflict of interest.
Mitch is closing in on the big 8-0. He has been Senator for 34 years. Enough is enough.

Well, it is after all a Republican who promised to drain the swamp and if anything has only made it deeper than ever.

They all do it.
Reagan continues to hold the record for earning the highest public speaking fee- $1-2 million in 1988.
Bill Clinton made up for a lesser fee with volume.
Bush 2, independently wealthy, did the same.
Obama continued the tradition.
No doubt Trump will do the same.
