I cant say I was too surprised by this story. If true, he needs to spend the rest of his life in jail. His "concern" about the unborn is more about controlling women which he apparently likes to do starting when they are still girls.

A former Texas pastor who testified in support of a bill that would have banned abortions and threatened to prosecute women for criminal homicide was arrested Friday and accused of sexually assaulting a teenage relative.

Stephen Bratton, a 43-year-old father of seven, allegedly began assaulting the teenager in 2013 and escalated the assault to “sexual intercourse multiple times a day or several times a week" before it ended in 2015, Senior Deputy Thomas Gilliland said, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Texas pastor who defended proposed bill criminalizing abortions accused of molesting teenage relative for years

3... 2... 1... until someone posts that he was set up by "pro abortionists"

3...2...1... Former pastor? Ok so no longer a man of the cloth.

Scum bag molesting family member?

Ok so no scum bag hypocrites on the left? Oh wait Lots.

Texas or any other state is wrong in banning abortions. Much cheaper to abort than to birth, then pay welfare until 18.

Well, he was excommunicated after he was charged. Not sure he was still a pastor at that time. Wojuld it have been better if I worded the title " Christian who defended a Texas House bill criminalizing abortion..."

Yep. Lots of hypocrites. Period. Right, certer, left, white, black, all nationalities, all sexual preferences, religious or atheist. I've often made that some point responding to some threads. But this man put himself out there to stand up for unborn fetuses while at the same time raping his young family member. That's a special kind of hyprocite and he needed a light shined on him.

He is not typical of most anti-abortion folks. But it still did not surprise me

So basically you are using a man's bad behavior to say the anti-abortion argument is wrong.

Don't try out for the debate team anytime soon...

Well, in all honesty, the guy could very well still be against abortion, even though he was involved in a sexual relationship with a teenage relative ( I dont believe they mentioned the girls age anywhere?) for all we know, she could be 16 or 17!

Im not defending the guy at all, sleeping with a relative is bad enough, but I dont see how it relates to his stance on abortion.

What stuck out to me is that he wants to put women who have abortions in jail while knowing that years previously he had repeatedly had sex with a minor.

You're going to need to point out where I said that. My post was about one man

That's outrageous and, frankly, beyond the pale. The allegations are that he had sex with a child from 2013 to 2015.

I might add mega kudos to the other preachers in the church for pushing this case toward the police. Edit to add that he confessed to his wife and his fellow pastors back in May according to heavy.com. And to clarify an earlier post of mine, he was still a pastor at the time of the repeated assaults as well as is confession from what I am reading

When Pastor A knows that Pastor B is being a sexual predator, then it absolutely vital that Pastor A comes forward and report it to the police.

The link that the OP provided has an embedded link to a second article. The second article states that it started in 2013 when the relative was 13 and ended in 2018 when the relative was 18.
